6 Timeless Ways To Stay Out Of Trouble

#1. It’s not what we don’t know that get’s us in trouble, it’s what we DON’T DO
What I was about 11 years old, I really liked played with my dog- Casper. Much of the enjoyment came from running around the house, with the fellow on my tail.! At the time, I had been given several firm warning by my mother- ‘DON’T RUN inside the house, you might fall and hurt yourself’. Of course, as mischievous as I was, I didn’t take the advice.
Then one day it happened. I slipped and fell. I knocked my face (mouth) on the edge of a hardy wooden chair. The repercussions of that incident are still felt today. As a result, parts of my front teeth are fake! Sh!!!!

That was just one example of my life that I shared with you. There are plenty more! I am sure that looking back, you too would have had your moments. How many drink and drive? How many speed and die?

On most occasions we know what we shouldn’t do. Yet, for various reasons, we still do….

#2. Be mindful of who you trust

There is no crash course out there, which will help you with this one! I believe that this is more of a trial and error method! The more experience you have with life, the easier it become to fine tune your judgment.

#3. Stay away from trouble makers

For some odd reason, I have found that ‘trouble makers’ make life interesting and exciting, for a while. Is the true for you?
However, after some time, it all fades away and you are left with pain, anger and frustration.

#4. Take care of your health
Eat healthy, exercise and drink a lot of water! Yes, you already know this stuff. Then why aren’t you doing? Ha… Point #1 proven!

When it comes to health, another observation I have noticed is that we tend to ignore or postpone illness symptoms. We wait until it is unbearable to seek medical advice. Sounds familiar?

#5. Try not to annoy people
Last October, I carried out a survey of certain factors that annoy people. Since, I have already written a post about this, I won’t duplicate it here.

#6. Accidents cause people!

Do the above guidelines work for you? Is there anything else you can suggest?

Make Money, Not Excuses!

This post is my two cents, based on an article I read over the week-end. It was titled 6 (Worthless) Excuses For Not Saving Money

I found myself nodding, for many of the excuses mentioned. What about you?

Excuse No. 1: I don't make enough
I am sure at some point of life, all of us have said this. You get a pay cheque and even before you know it, POOF it’s gone. That leaves you with a few more weeks to get by, before you get your next pay cheque. Even then, the cycle continues. Sounds familiar?

The human tendency is to always want more. It’s no different with money. One might argue that with the rising inflation and taxes, we NEED more. We DO, we DO!

In spite of salary increments/personal profits, will what we make, ever be enough for us?

Excuse No. 2: I'll get around to it later
Some of us tend to postpone saving. There have been many time, I have said to myself, You are too young to save! Most people, give saving a serious thought, only when retirement is within sight.

Excuse No. 3: I deserve a little luxury in my life
I work so hard, I NEED to reward my self.
If not now, when will I get to enjoy life?

Personally, I think we all deserve a little luxury from time to time. We NEED to go out and have some fun. Yes, you can still save, if you are mindful of the percentage to allocate for “luxury”.

Excuse No. 4: Someone else will take care of it
Depending on your household, you assume that someone else will pay the electricity bill. In the end, you realize that that person was waiting for you to pay the bill and thus, now there is a fine as well.
It is indeed great if you have someone to bare .. ooooops I mean share the bills with. However, make sure that the “ground rules” are laid beforehand.

Excuse No. 5: I'm saving through my 401(k)
No comment on this one!

Excuse No. 6: This item or service will pay for itself
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could use Harry Potter wizardry um… any wizardry for that matter, and wipe away the bills? Dream on… ;-)

In Time of Need, Boston Scientology Volunteer Ministry Welcomes Neighbors and Community Organizations

With a new wave of crime in Boston that has created extra police work as well as the presence of the Guardian Angels, the Boston Scientology Volunteer Ministry is reaching even further into the community to give community organizations and other religions the opportunity to use their workable methods of education and morals.

Per ministry leaders, the most underlying source of crime is illiteracy and their tutoring programs create literate people who can apply what they read. They feel that with illiteracy, options close and crime is more likely to set in. Their moral/non-violence programs are also available to any person’s group wishes to help. To learn how you can have the knowledge to undercut the causes of crime, contact Robert Castagna at (617) 927-CCHR or email rwcastagna@yahoo.com .

Below is more information about the ministry and its programs. The time to act in now.

The Mission: The Boston Scientology Ministry is located at 1783 Washington Street in Lower Roxbury and provides free service to the Boston community that reduces the crime and violence of the area by handling the factors that underlie it. Examples of such programs are the Reading and Study Skills project, The UNITED Youth for Human Rights Program and the non-violence program called The Way to Happiness.

For more information on the Ministry call (617) 927-2247.

For volunteer information regarding the Boston Scientology Ministry: Volunteer Match

Description:
The Boston Scientology Ministry is sponsored by the parishioners of the Church of Scientology of Boston and provides a free community center to the inner city of Boston. The ministry is open to people of all ages and seeks to empower the individual through literacy, morals and other services. The ministry also assists other agencies in setting up literacy and non-violence programs by providing materials and training.

The center is open Monday to Friday from 3:00 to 6:00, and by special appointment. One-on-one tutoring is offered to assist those individuals who are having difficulty with their schooling and a complete phonics program is available to those in need of improved reading skills. Programs are available to the publics that provide parenting and community service skills. Such programs include the "How to Reduce the Violence with Effective Education" program. This program is also available for presentations at other agencies.

History:
Rev. Robert Castagna established The Boston Scientology Ministry in the summer of 2004 to assist the community in reducing crime and violence. The Volunteer Minister program was originally created by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology in mid 1970's. Mr. Hubbard concluded that crime was rising in direct proportion to the decline of religious influence in society and thereby developed the Volunteer Minister movement as a means of providing practical assistance to those in need. The ministry's programs are available to the citizens of Roxbury and the surrounding area free of charge and regardless of race, color or creed.

Life Matters By Roger & Rebecca Merrill (Book Excerpt-2)

The following excerpt is taken from the book Life Matters By Roger & Rebecca Merrill. (I am aware that this is the second excerpt for the book. However, I couldn't resist posting this paragraph.!)

For decades, life balance has been a huge issue in our society. Even now, in a time when most of us are quicker to connect with what matter most, there's still a gap- sometimes an enormous gap-between what we say matters most and the way we actually spend our time and money.

If you want to get an idea of how significant this gap may be in your own life, just take a minute and pull out your planner or calendar. Pull out your checkbook or credit card statement. Look at where you've spent your time and money over the past few weeks. Do those spending decision really reflect the things that matter most to you?

Using Constructive Feedback To Polish My Mirror

My blogging lifespan has been only 6 months todate. I am constantly on the look out for constructive feedback to improve my blog.

I am someone who is on the look out for feedback-in any aspect of life. I like hearing what I did right (don't we all!) and what I can improve on. My previous boss said that he really admired that fact about me! Ok ok. MPHOT (Monkey Praising Her Own Tail!) -Sorry

Anyway, my blog life span is around 6 months to-date. I know I have a lot to do, to improve the blog. Meanwhile, I would also like to know what I am doing wrong. So I sized an opportunity given by Business Wire. It had this wonderful concept called the SOAP (Scratch One Another Program). Simply put, its where I give my constructive feedback/ advice to one blogger assigned by Business wire itself. In return, someone he assigns does the same to my blog.

I was honored that my blog was reviewed by an outstanding blogger. He is non other than Douglus from The Marketing Technology Blog.

Indeed his feedback has been very useful to me. If you look around, you will notice that I have made a few changes to my blog, based on his advice.

I really like the way it had conveyed the review. He had categorized into 4 main areas.
Here goes….

1. Who are you?
Yes, I am aware that there aren’t too many details about me, on the "About" section. The truth is for a long time, I was even a bit "shy" to reveal my name. I know that must sound really stupid, but it took me a while to get "comfortable" with my blog. Does that make sense? Never mind, if it doesn’t!

So I guess I have to really get out of my "shell" if I want to put a picture of me. Hm… fingers crossed.

As for my credentials, I thought I will dedicate a separate post for that. Stay tuned!

2.Content Layout
Yes I too feel that the sidebars are a bit disorganized. I have been toying with different sections, moving them from left to right, however, I don't think I ever got the "right" combination.

I know, I know, the RSS button is too huge. I read somewhere that if you have a large, eye-catching RSS Button that people will subscribe. Looking at feedburner stats, I have noticed a sizable increase in subscription. However, I have made the RSS button slightly smaller, in an attempt to make it less over powering. What do you think?

3. Theme
Give more prominence to the content as opposed to the side bars. I have been trying to do that for some time now. Unfortunately, my experimentation with this blog template hasn't taken me far. I want to make the right side bar a bit slimmer and make the post content a bit wider. I there is anyone who can help me out with that, please let me know.

A border for images, is definitely something I can add.

4. Where is everyone?
Comment on other blogs. Again, something I want to do. Its just that I am a bit tight on time. That's a lousy excuse I know. But it is the truth. My day job doesn't leave me with too much time to make blogging relationships. Nevertheless, I want to and I have to device a way to make it more effective.

Douglus, thank you very much for your valuable advice. I really am grateful and appreciate it.

Now, I request for feedback from you, my dear readers. What do you think about Enhance Life? What are the things you like over here? What can I improve on?

Tagged: My Simply Successful Secrets

Several bloggers have tagged me during the last few weeks on several meme's. I haven't forgotten you. The truth is that it's been a rough few weeks for me and at the time, I couldn't find any "thinking time". As with most things in life, "season's" change.
So if you have tagged me, my apologies for being late. However, I will reply all your tags in due course. Starting today!

It's been a while since I have been tagged for the Simply Successful Secrets by Sania.

#1. Breakfast
I know a few people who tend to ignore breakfast. To me, it is one of the important things to get my day going. To this day, I have never skipped breakfast. There have been days when I was "running late". On those days, I make sure I have "on the run" breakfast.

#2. Regular Exercise
I like to vary my exercises. It may be swimming one day, Ab crunchers another etc. In a way it takes off the monotonous nature in exercises. Also, it suites my schedule as well.

I don't exercise with the intention of loosing weight. It happens to be a positive side effect. ;-)

#3. Friends and Family
It is indeed very difficult to main "relationships" with your family and friends in this fast paced world. One of the areas that we tend to "postpone" is time spent with our family and friends. To me, play a big part of my life. Without their influence and support, I wouldn't be where I am today.

#4. Read
I try my best to read at least one good book a week. I generally use, book reviews as a guideline to select the "good books".

#5. Meditate
Up until a few months ago, I had no idea what mediation was. The one book, changed my perspective on meditation.

#6. Music
I enjoy both listing and making music :-).

Different people have different views on listening to music while working. I find it, easy to concentrate when I listen to music. I guess in a way it shuts out the rest of the world.
I play the piano and compose my own music. Armature stuff, but I find it entertaining.

#7. Reward Myself!
Sometimes, there may be small accomplishments which are not notable to others. But to you, it might bring a sense of achievement. My rewards range from one liter of chocolate ice cream , DVDs, technology gadgets to cloths!

I am aware that this is where I am supposed to tag a few others. However, everyone I know has already contributed to this tag. If you haven't, and would like to participate let me know, I will be sure to add your link here.

If I Had My Life To Live Over

By Nadine Stair (Source:email)

I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.

I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles,
but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.

You see, I'm one of those people who live
sensibly and sanely hour after hour,
day after day.

Oh, I've had my moments,
And if I had it to do over again,
I'd have more of them.
In fact, I'd try to have nothing else.
Just moments, one after another,
Instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I've been one of those people who never goes anywhere
without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat
and a parachute.
If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.

If I had my life to live over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring
and stay that way later in the fall.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daisies.

A Journal Doesn’t Have To Be A ‘Dear Diary’

There is a room in our house where all junk is stored! In this context the definition of junk is, things that we don’t have time to sort out or things we have no use of at the moment. A cleaning session was long overdue for that room and I somehow got my self to start the clean-up operation.

Not knowing where to start from, I decided to leave it to fate! I choose to sort out the first thing that caught my eye. Right in front of me was this old card board box (full of dust!).
Amid a few sneezes, I managed to get around opening the box. My eyes lit up when saw what was inside.

The box contain several note books and journals written by my (late) grandfather. I was hoping to find some ‘juicy’ bits about how my grandfather met my grandma & so on! After all, the oldest diary was written in 1931.

I didn’t find what I was looking for. However, I wasn’t disappointed. The journals contained things that were even more amazing and unbelievable.

His diaries had accomplishments and facts of each of his children. Did I mention that he had 9 children! Naturally, I picked up the journal on my mother. It had the date and time she was born, the day my mother first went to school, the prizes she won etc. After browsing through several pages, I found another fact that struck me with ‘awe’. There in black and white was the date and time I was born.

Likewise I flipped through several other journals as well. The next journal I picked up was rather different from the one I just read. My grandfather was a doctor by profession and he had recorded diseases, symptoms and medicine of some patients he had treated.

Inspired by his journals, I invite you to have a journal of some sort-for yourself or a loved one. It can be digital or “old fashioned” paper. Believe me, years from now you will appreciate the time and effort spent on it.

Here are a few more ideas on what you can record,
Health - Blood pressure monitor, blood glucose level etc
Blogging – Blog statistics, contacts
Work – Accomplishments, new things learned, mistakes made
Books –reviews, excerpt , pictures

Currently, do you have a journal? what is it about?
If you don’t have one at the moment, what would you like to keep a journal on?
